The Great Morava river begins at the confluence of the South Morava and the West Morava rivers in central Serbia.
The Great Morava’s valley is the cradle of the Serbian state dating back to medieval ages. The aim of this project is to investigate narratives of local communities and their transformations through the manifestations in the natural and cultural landscapes.
Local traditions and cultural heritage are under the threat of modernization, and on the other hand from ecological and agricultural adaptations necessitated by dramatic climate changes in Serbia.
Showcasing rich local traditions, with unique local communities’ identities, and preserving the rich cultural heritage from contemporary negligence are three major goals I will pursue in this project.
